Preflight
One of the very first things every pilot learns about is preflighting the aircraft. At any training facility, civilian or military one commonly sees very new pre-solo students going around their aircraft, checklist in hand, under the watchful eye of their instructors. Almost all country’s air regulations make every pilot responsible for preflight inspections and flight planning. If you are at a commercial airport on a dark and stormy night you’ll see a crew member walking around an airliner that just came in in perfect flying health and is going out again in minutes, carefully observing potential ‘killer’ areas, flashlight in hand, snow or ice water running down his or her neck … they have learned, often by bitter experience, that preflighting is the key to life.
Now consider there guys. Watch the video, it’s short and tragic, and then figure out if you can determine the primary cause factor.
