About XingR
Nope, I’m not Chinese. I’m an American male, born 1945 and I currently make my home in Marilao, Bulacan, Republic of the Philippines.
I’ve been a pilot more than 40 years now although I am not a professional and have never earned my living at it. I have worked extensively in aircrew training, communications and navigation systems. I also have served on accident investigation boards and have a deep and abiding interest in trying to find ways to apply the lessons learned in crash investigation to practical ways pilots and operators can use to prevent future accidents.
The history of air accident investigation, both civil and military is a sad litany y of expert investigation becoming ever more able to pinpoint true causes and government regulatory agencies finding ever more ways to ignore recommendations often with the hackneyed phrase “it costs too much.” Not to mention the kneejerk pilot’s refrain, “excess regulation will take away too many freedoms and our command prerogatives.” Perhaps education, rather thna regulation could do more.
I write about aviation. airports and related subjects such as sybnthetic training, both “real (approved) flight training devices and “toys” such ss Microsoft Flight Simulator because I am interested in both the serious and the fun aspects of learning.
So welcome to the Virtual Pilot’s Lounge and don’t forget to have a little fun.
